Unit 4 critical thinking essay

Autism Spectrum Disorder is becoming increasingly represented in the media. Characters in popular television shows (i.e., The Good Doctor, Parenthood, House) displayed symptoms (if not actual diagnoses) on the spectrum.

Find an example in a television show or movie of your choice. In your essay, briefly describe ASD, introduce the character, and explain how their symptoms match with the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for ASD. Then, use what you learned in the chapter regarding effective treatments for ASD to create a treatment plan that might help your character improve their most difficult symptoms. Or, if you witnessed treatment approaches in the show, describe them in the context of what type of treatment was being used. 

Essays are considered a formal writing assignment. They will be graded based on writing quality, sentence and paragraph structure, grammar, spelling, and word usage. 

The required format is as follows.

– 1-2 pages, 12pt Times New Roman font, 1in margins

– Header with Last Name and Page Number in the top right

– Title centered at the top of the first page. 

– No references or citations necessary. If you use a source outside of the textbook, simply refer to it in your essay.
