2.    Explain how a child’s temperament could affect a child’s development of personality within Erikson’s theory both positively and negatively. Include a real-life example using specific temperament type and stage of personality. Discuss at least two ways that parents or educators can assist.
3.    Describe how attention plays a role in children’s memory – what captures attention? Specifically, what problems could occur within the Atkinson’s & Shiffrin’s memory model if a child fails to pay attention to the information presented? How can a teacher employ one of these instructional approaches: situated learning, problem-based learning, guided discovery learning, cooperative to assist their students’ memory and recall of information?
4.    What did Alfred Binet’s early work on intelligence contribute to our current knowledge of children’s IQ? How does the bell-shaped curve distribute IQ scores and why is that significant in understanding intelligence? What exactly does being exceptional mean? How does intelligence relate to academic success? Include a real-life example that supports your answer.
Part II: Long-Answer Essay Section
Directions: Essay is required to have an introduction, body, and conclusion for a minimum total of 6 paragraphs. Students may use citations to support their answers.
Compare and contrast how intelligence is measured and tested for infants vs. preschool and elementary children. Explain the tests of intelligence most commonly used and the areas/skills tested for children. For infants, what areas are assessed and what relation do testing those areas/skills have for childhood intelligence?  What role could memory play on a child’s intelligence? Could teachers’ or parents use memory strategies to help young students’ struggling in school subjects? Why or why not? Would it necessarily increase intelligence? Explain. Include real-life examples to help support your answer.
