For this essay, you will write a narrative on one of the five topics:
Your worst (or best) day on the job
A moment that led to a significant decision in your life
Meeting someone new or losing someone special
A memorable childhood experience
Using a photo that is meaningful to you, write a narrative about the photo (ex. what happened, who is in it, why it matters to you)
Your narrative should have the following:
A clear purpose (including a thesis)
An identified time and place
A consistent point of view
Consistent verb tenses
Details and sensory appeal
A logical sequence
A thought-provoking conclusion
The final paper should be a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 750 to 800 words.
the thesis statement needs to be one sentence that states your topic, makes a judgment, opinion, or claim about the topic, and includes the main points of your essay, which then serve as the basis for the topic sentences for your body paragraphs. In other words, you need to tell the reader what they are to expect in your paper.
Your topic sentences, in turn, directly reflect or mirror, or at least come close to mirroring, the main points in your thesis statement. They are at the beginning of each body paragraph and set the parameters of each paragraph. Every sentence in each body paragraph must be directly related to and support that paragraph’s topic sentence.
