Introduction sample:
“Beauty is in the heart of the beholder” –H.G. Wells. In the Elizabethan era, Queen
Elizabeth set the standard of beauty. Pale skin, stark make-up, and ornate clothing constituted
style and prestige. In Sonnet 130, William Shakespeare questions this forced standard of
beauty, suggesting that true beauty lies within.
