Description for the article review:
Write a summary and analysis of a recent academic article in international film studies.  You should begin with a declaration of the overall argument of the article, then support that central claim with an itemized account of content of the chapter clearly evidenced by relevant supporting quotes from the text.  You probably should emphasize both the argument and the organization. Incorporate your textual evidence with an intro/quote/restate/relate pattern, wherein you introduce the context of the quote used, punctuate and parenthetically cite the text appropriately, restate its meaning in your own words, and then relate it to your larger claim of the essay.
Following your two paragraphs of descriptive summary, offer two paragraphs of analysis wherein you make and support claims of the text that are not obvious:  you may disagree with it, agree with it and offer further examples to support its argument, or elaborate on its methodology.  You must relate it to other readings from our class.  Finally, apply the argument to a film we have discussed as a class but the essay itself does not discuss.  What is the payoff for readers—what do we gain from the article you have chosen?
Format – The assignment should be one page single-spaced, 10 point Times New Roman, one-inch margins.  Use complete, clear, well-organized, and artful sentences and include introductory and concluding writing that frames each paragraph and connects them.
