Question 1: Suppose Congress decided to foster a return to mid 19th century competition. What changes would have to occur in the business world? Do you think this could be achieved by legislation?
Question 2: Veblen was a great coiner of phrases. Do you think he hit the mark with “conspicuous consumption,” “conspicuous leisure,” and “pecuniary emulation?” Have you observed any of these monikers in action? Explain.
