Description
In this assignment, you are asked to prepare a report about the social and economic
conditions in one of the Indigenous communities in Canada. Each person will research the
community assigned to them.

Part 1 (20 points)
The background paper (not including the list of sources) must be between 500 – 600
words. Provide an exact word count of the text not including captions, sources, and
resources. The paper should be organized into the following four sections.
1. Location and geographic characteristics = 5 pts
2. Demographic profile = 5 pts
3. Economic profile and activities = 5 pts
4. Issues facing the community = 5 pts
Part 2 (6 points)
Provide two illustrations for the background paper. Each illustration should have
1. a caption =1pts
2. the source = 1pts
3. a reference to the illustration in the text = 1pts
Part 3 (2 points)
Provide a map showing the location of this settlement within the province or territory in
which it is located. Include a reference to the map in the text.
Part 4 (2 points)
Provide a list of the resources (minimum 4) used in preparation of the paper.
In total, this assignment is worth 30 points.
The community for your research is assigned according to your place on the class list (which
I will be posting in the News on the course Homepage). If there are more than 38 students
in class, and your number is 39-45, please go back to the beginning of the list to find the
name of the community for your research.
