[SOLVED] New Kid Paper
9.6 – New Kid Paper Prompt
Stories, New Kid, & Empowerment (4 pages)
Why are stories, and by extension, counterstories, valuable and important? How can they push back
against stereotypes, racism, and prejudice? How might stories like New Kid help empower young
people?
In composing your paper, you’ll need to include the following:
Evidence from New Kid (specific scenes, panels, lines of dialogue, etc.)
At least 2 additional outside sources; these may come from any course readings/videos assigned; a
personal interview would also be appropriate
You’re welcome and encouraged to use first-person “I” in this paper.
As with our Superpowers Paper, we’ll draft this in stages:
Draft 1.0 will be about 1 page of content
Draft 2.0 will be about 1 page of content
Draft 3.0 will be about 3-4 pages of content and feature some or all outside sources (this draft is a
combo of 1.0 & 2.0, along with any new material composed)
Draft 4.0 will be about 4 pages and feature the required 3 outside sources (this is the more edited and
revised draft, the one I’ll give feedback on); please note that to earn a “Complete,” this draft must meet
the page length and outside source requirements
What questions do you have about the prompt? If you have some, go ahead and write them here;
otherwise, you can simply write “I think I understand the prompt at this time,” and you can ask
questions later on, when they come up. Additionally, what do you think might be challenging about this
paper? On the flip-side, what might you be looking forward to?
