It is very important that you do not copy and paste any of the text of the assignment into your answer.
The turn-it-in software is already built in to the assignment. You do not need to access the software separately from the assignment.

A score of more than 25% will not be accepted and you will receive a zero for this assignment. You must wait up to an hour after you submit the assignment to receive a turn-it-in score. If your turn-it-in score is more than 25% you will have 24 hours from the assignment due date to re-submit it with a lower score.

Now that we have all had a chance to share our thoughts regarding food choices, healthy diets and the nutrient composition of foods, let’s take some time to discuss the tools for a healthy diet in more detail in our first midterm review question assignment.
We have discussed the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI) and reviewed the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) and the Estimated Average Requirements (EAR). This is our chance to elaborate on the following discussion questions posed in our discussion assignment:
How would you describe the difference between an EAR and RDA to a friend?
Why do you think many of the micronutrients do not have RDAs but instead Adequate Intakes (AIs)?
Please do your best here. It is okay to make a first attempt and discuss gaps in your knowledge or areas you may need to research further. You will have a chance to revise your answer for full credit.
Great Work! (10 pts): Adequately defines EAR and RDA and explain their purpose and how they are used.
Mentions the risk of inadequacy and the risk of adverse effects (see section 8.4 in your textbook and the associated lecture and slides). Defines AI and thoroughly discusses AIs and micronutrients.
Good Discussion (6 pts, but able to be revised to 10 points): Discussion mentions the dietary reference intakes but does not adequately explain EAR, RDA or AI. The discussion does not include a comparison of the EAR and RDA and/or doesn’t thoroughly discuss risk of inadequacy or adverse effects. The discussion mentions micronutrients but doesn’t explain why they are more likely to have an AI rather than an RDA.
Try Again (3 pts): The discussion doesn’t adequately define EAR, RDA or AI or include any of the comparisons or associated risks/adverse effects mentioned. The discussion does not mention micronutrients.
