Final Paper- Myths and Mythic Themes
Final Paper Guidelines
You are required to write a 1500-2000-word essay in which you will analyze a FILM of your choice that represents myths and mythic themes that we have learned throughout the course. This will be an analytic essay. In this essay, you must demonstrate your knowledge of mythology, as learned throughout the quarter.
Guidelines:
Craft an introduction that gives your reader the WHAT and the WHY
What! What are you writing about? Your introduction will include information about specific mythologies (e.g., The Hero Myth, Gods, Sacred Places, The Trickster, etc.)
Why! Why are these myths good representations of the social issues you will be discussing in the paper?
Sign off with a Strong Conclusion: Use your conclusion to revisit what you have illustrated throughout your paper about the significance of specific myths and what they can teach us about life today.
You are required to use a minimum of 3 scholarly written sources e.g. journals, books, .edu websites, etc.
AVOID explaining the PLOT!
Do NOT use Wikipedia, blogs, magazines, and commercial websites.
Plagiarism (word-for-word copying, without acknowledgment, of the language or creative work of another person) will not be tolerated.
Remember! Do not discuss the plot, except briefly to set up scenes that are relevant to discussing the specific myths you have identified. A plot review is not a paper!
