Choose one of the following two options.
OPTION # 1: For the creative writer
Ending re-write: You will invent a one-page ending for the story, beginning at the line, “Somehow, the sign had changed” (7). Follow the criteria given:
SUCCESS CRITERIA: Check these off before printing your good copy.
• Use proper short story formatting:
o submission information in top-left corner
o typed, with 12 point / regular font
o double spaced
o indented paragraphs
• Begin your ending by re-writing the TYME SEFARI INC sign, exactly as written in the story
• Include all the characters we have met so far: Eckels, Travis, Lesperance, Billings, Kramer, man behind the desk
• Do NOT copy any part of the real ending; it is not recommended to even preview Bradbury’s full story
• At least three (3) things must be different in the future
• Include both narration and dialogue
• Use figurative language, including at least one of each of the following:
o simile, personification and metaphor
o These sentences must be highlighted and labelled.
• Minimum of one (1) page, approximately 250 words
• Do not write more than 2 pages (500 words)

OPTION # 2: For the visually creative communicator
Visual representation of devices:
You will invent 3 posters (8 ½ x 11) depicting literal representations of three different literary devices from the story: metaphor, simile, personification, or hyperbole. Follow the criteria given:
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
• Each page must be a regular page size (8 ½ X 11)
• On each page, include the type of device, the full quotation (in quotation marks), and the page number (in brackets)
Ex: Simile: “He jumped like a cat” (2).
Quotations must be full sentences—do note quote a partial phrase
All work must be of your own thought and design. You may use the computer to create images; however, you must significantly alter/modify the images to avoid plagiarism
Do not include pencil on good copy
Pay close attention to detail and artistic sensibility, as those will affect the message you are trying to communicate
Do not use a literary device more than once
What to hand in:
1) Good copy of 3 posters
